LYRICS

Jordan Sparks
Tattoo
Oooh... Oooh... Ohhh..

No matter what you say about love, I keep coming back for more, My head in the fire, sooner or later I get what i'm asking for
No matter what you say about life, I learn every time I bleed. The truth is a stranger My soul is in danger, I gotta let my spirit be free to, Admit that I was wrong and then change my mind. Sorry but I have to move on and leave you behind.

I can't waste time so give me the moment I realize nothing's broken No need to worry about everything I've done Lived every second like it was my last one. Don't look back got a new direction Loved you once, needed protection. You're still a part of everything I do, you're on my heart just like a tattoo, Just like a tatto, I'll always have you.
I'm sick of playing all of these games It's not about taking ties. When I look in the mirror, Didn't deliver It hurt enough to think that I could stop Admit that I'm wrong and then change my mind. Sorry but I gotta be strong and leave you behind

I can't waste time so give me the moment I realize nothing's broken No need to worry about everything I've done Lived every second like it was my last one. Don't look back got a new direction Loved you once, needed protection You're still a part of everything I do, you're on my heart just like a tattoo, I'll always have you.

If I live every momentWon't change any moment Still a part of me and you. I will never regret you Still the memory of you Marks everything I do. I can't waste time so give me the moment I realize nothing's broken No need to worry about everything I've done Lived every second like it was my last one Don't look back got a new direction Loved you once, needed protection. You're still a part of everything I do, you're on my heart just like a tattoo. Just like a tattoo I'll always have you.
(Repeat chorus)

I enjoy using blogs in class because its a new way of learning and its better than just writing it down on a piece of paper and turning it in, and i think its easier for the teacher because its all online and most kids and teachers are always on the computer.

I don't use blogs in any other classes of mine, but my physics teacher is thinking about starting a blog about our class so we can find stuff easier, because she went to the same workshop\ seminar as Mr.Hughes this year about the computers and stuff and she thought it would be a good idea.

I like how we can get to our class website, and other websites that we need right from the blog. One thing i don't like about it is that it doesn't tell us when he posts a blog. I wish that it would like send us an email or something when he posts a blog so that we know when he does.

The blog has always been easy for me and its simple. All of the buttons are really big and easy to use.

Yes, i wish my other classes would use blogs like this for work. I think it would make life a lot easier because kids are always on the computer anyways, and they know how to use it good, so why not take advantage of that and use it more.

Yes i have the Internet at home so i can go online and check my blogs and my emails. Usually i write my blogs at home, because i don't have time in school to write them.

I feel that you can learn more from posting blogs than doing assignments, and i like it better doing it online because i am very comfortable with the Internet.

Yes, i have a myspace and a face book, but i mainly use myspace, i rarely ever go on face book.

MOVIE POST :D

I WOULD RATE THE FILM AN 8. I REALLY LIKED IT A LOT. IT WAS VERY ENTERTAINING TO ME. THE RELEVANCE TO STUDYING POETRY IS WHEN THEY STARTED THE DEAD POETS SOCIETY AND WITH THEIR POETRY TEACHER. HE MADE THEM LEARN THE IMPORTANCE AND THE FUN OF POETRY. I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD SHOW THIS FILM TO FUTURE AP CLASSES BECAUSE I WAS TALKING TO KIDS AFTER CLASS AND THEY REALLY LIKED THE FILM ALSO. ANOTHER THING IS THAT ITS A GOOD WAY TO START OFF THE POETRY UNIT.

POETRY

Poetry is a way to express one’s feelings towards a certain thing or subject. It helps let out peoples emotions by writing them, and then telling people who also enjoy doing the same thing.

Poetry could be happy, sad, angry, upsetting, over a death, over love, heartbreak, about the world, about peace, or anything you choose to write about. It is a way for people who don’t know how to show their feelings, express it in a way where they are comfortable of doing it. Many kids have a hard time speaking in public or to people, so it’s a good way for people to express themselves without getting embarrassed. Most people write poetry about love, or about a break-up that they had, and how it affected them.

For poetry, people have poetry Bash’s, where kids and adults come together and read their poetry in front of everyone who’s their by standing on a stage and expressing their feelings. Or you could just sit there and listen to other people read their poetry if you didn’t want to read anything. Also you can meet people there who share the same interests as you and talk to them about how they handle problems or maybe the same problem as you.

Writing poetry is a good way to just let everything out. You don’t even have to show it to anyone, you can just write about whatever you want and get it out of your system, and nobody would have to know. Like if you had a bad day, you could just write everything down in your notebook and then you would feel so much better.

All and all poetry is a good thing for everyone. I think that everyone should write poetry sometime in their life so that they can express themselves without violence, so that there is less violence.

How Far We've Come Lyrics
Hello

Hello

Hello

I'm waking up at the start of the end of the world,But its feeling just like every other morning before,Now i wonder what my life is going to mean if it's gone,The cars are moving like a half a mile an hour if thatAnd I started staring at the passengers who're waving goodbyeCan you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?

But i believe the world is burning to the ground Oh well i guess we're gonna find outLet's see how far we've comeLet's see how far we've comeWell I, believe, it all, is coming to an end Oh well, i guess, we're gonna pretend,Let's see how far we've comeLet's see how far we've come

I think it turned ten o'clock but i don't really know Then i can't remember caring for an hour or soStarted crying and i couldn't stop myselfI started running but there's no where to run toI sat down on the street and took a look at myselfSaid where you going man you know the world is headed for hell Say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to

I believe the world is burning to the groundOh well i guess we're gonna find outLet's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end Oh well, i guess, we're gonna pretend,Let's see how far we've comeLet's see how far we've comeIts gone

gone baby its all goneThere is no one on the corner and there's no one at homeIt was cool cool, it was just all coolNow it's over for me and it's over for you Well its gone gone baby its all goneThere is no one on the corner and there's no one at homeWell it was cool cool, it was just all cool Now it's over for me and it's over for you

But i believe the world is burning to the ground Oh well i guess we're gonna find outLet's see how far we've comeLet's see how far we've come Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end Oh well, i guess, we're gonna pretend,

Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come Let's see how far we've come

Essay Question #3

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, a character played a role in where they met someone from his past. This girl was a positive influence for him, but also affected him badly. In this work of literature, Jay Gatsby moved to West egg, to become closer to his love from his childhood.
Jay Gatsby moved to West Egg to see his love from his childhood. This was a good thing to him because he hadn’t seen her since when he went away to the war. He thinks it would be good to see her and that once she saw him, everything would be the same again. Also, he wanted to go further into the relationship with her. He thought that she was waiting for him to get back from the war so they could still be together.
That wasn’t the case though. Once he moved to West Egg, he realized that she was married to a man named Tom Buchanan and they lived in East Egg, which was right across the water. Jay met his neighbor, Nick Carraway and Nick told him all about Daisy and Tom’s relationship; how they are not very trustworthy to each other. But Jay didn’t care; all he cared about was seeing Daisy again for the first time, in a long time. Nick set up a date so that Jay and Daisy could see each other, and then Daisy started having an affair. At the same time, Tom was having an affair with Myrtle, who was with someone at the time.
How this affected him positively and negatively is, it was positive for him because he rekindled with his childhood sweetheart from a while back. That made Jay very happy, but then there was a bad part. The bad part was that she was married to Tom and she had a life with him. She started sneaking around with him, and in the end, he ended up dieing because of her.
All and all, Jay Gatsby was affected positively and negatively to Daisy. It went from really positive to really negative towards the end of the novel. Jay cared so much about this girl that he would do anything for her, but she wouldn’t do anything like that for Jay. In the end he ended up taking the blame for something she did, and ends up getting killed for his childhood sweetheart he could not wait to see again.

METAMORPHOSIS ESSAY 2 :]

METAMORPHOSIS ESSAY 2 :]

In the novel, The Metamorphosis, written by F. Kafka, symbols were used to play an important role. Also to add to the meaning of the work as a whole these symbols played an important role because they were the main elements Gregor faced throughout the novel.
The first symbol was Gregor getting turned into a bug. The bug represents isolation because he was not allowed out of his room. He was isolated because his family didn't want anyone to see him as this bug. Gregor went from being the hero for his family, into nothing but a bug.
Another symbol is the door and the window. These symbolize freedom to the outside world. These are Gregor's way's to get out of isolation, and into the outside world. Ever since he was turned into a bug from waking up from a dream, Gregor never went outside; he never even got to leave his room.
How these symbols relate is that all Gregor had to do was go outside in the outside world and he could get out of his isolation from the world. Of course he didn't do so, and ending up dieing while being isolated. Gregor had many chances to leave his room, and go to the outside world, but he chooses not too. He would have rather stayed in his room, and live with his family like that.
All and all, these symbols contributed to the work as a whole. Isolation was the main symbol and what Gregor Samsa lived in. The window and door were his way of freedom in the outside world. Instead he chose to live with his family, and end up dieing from isolation.

ALBUM POST :]

ALBUM POST :]

I think that the music is pretty good and it has a strong message. It was saying that you should leave the bad stuff in your life and move on so that you make your life better. Also that you can make a bad situation better by changing the way you look and think about things. I actually enjoyed listening to some of the songs, but some, not so much. They all sounded the same too me, like the beat and the voice. I liked the lyrics a lot, while I was listening to the album, I looked up the lyrics for the songs and they were pretty good, a lot were talking about two people sticking together, saying like, I’ll side with you, if you side with me. All of the songs end with talking about sticking together and staying with each other. The sound of the music is like depressed sounds to me. The songs start off where he’s all alone and then by the end he ends up with someone. It’s almost as if he wants\ needs someone to be there and at first he starts off with nobody and in the end finds someone and asks them to care about him and just stay with him. Also, in some of the songs, he runs away from his problems. Like in Hate It Here and Shake it Off he tries running away from his problems, acting like nothing is wrong. He knows that he should try and fix them, but he doesn’t try, he acts like nothing is wrong. His music is very soothing. He also has very short lyrics, but they get right to the point. He sounds like he has lived a very depressed life. Also, he talks about leaving a lot and about the blue sky and the clouds. In almost about every song, he talks about getting out of where he is and leaves and moves on and goes somewhere else, because anything will be better than where he is now. The songs beat that is really different from the rest is part of Shake It Off, It has this up beat sound to it, compared to the rest of the album. I think that he needs to make it so all the songs don’t sound the same because when I first was listening to it, I couldn’t really tell when a new song started because all of the music sounds pretty much the same. Also, I think he shouldn’t write all these songs about the same thing, I think he should combine some of the songs so that there longer, because most of them are sending the same message, so why not put them in the song together and just make the song longer. Then he could write new songs about other problems he is having and have new beats for those songs. There are some good things in the album and there are some bad, but overall I thought it was a pretty good album, and I would listen to it again if I wanted to listen to something good.

5 QUESTIONS AND STORY RE-WRITE :]

5 QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION :]
1./ Why would the people of the city want to watch his human during fasting?
2./. Why would they want to convince him to do this to himself?
3./ Why did the children think this was such a cool thing to watch?
4./ Why would the circus want to let him do this fasting again?
5./ What is the important lesson to learn from this article?

STORY RE-WRITE :]

Back in the day, being a hunger artist was a big thing. It brought in a lot of money to people who had one, but now-a-days, its not a big thing anymore. Those were different times. Back then, hunger artists caught the eye and attention of the entire city who had one, now if you were to see one, it would make no sense, or it would be a disappointment to some people. Back then, children loved watching hunger artists because they would always look and then their mouths would open in amazement because they’ve never seen anything like that before, but then some of there parents would pay no attention to them. There was always a constant observer watching the fasting happening. They would watch to make sure that he didn’t eat anything or sleep, but some of the observers depressed him when they would watch him at night because all they did was sit there and play cards. He liked it when the observers sat right at the bar and who was not satisfied with the dim backlighting of the room, illuminated him with electric flashlights. He liked when he could sit there and just joke and tell stories with them. No one person could stay with him every day and every night to see the true observations of how he was really handling it, so people took it in shifts. The hunger Artist started realizing how easy it was becoming to fast, he felt like he could do it forever. But the people of the city thought he was just a publicity seeker and just wanted attention and this was his way of getting it. The impresano set a limit for how long the hunger artist can fast for, and it was 40 days, and once those 40 days were up he had to get the hunger artist out of the cage. Once that day happened, everyone came to the amphitheatre, where he was for those 40 days, and brought doctors and a military band to celebrate that he survived the forty days of fasting. After they tried to get him out the cage, that he was so accustomed too, he didn’t want to stop. He thought to himself, why stop now, when he was in his best form yet? Then the crowd started getting mad that he was doing this. Next we was supposed to stand up in front of everyone and eat something. He made himself think that the food was going to make him feel sick, so it did. After that he got up and had the impresano talk more about him and then all the sudden he fainted on a poor lady, and she freaked out and started screaming, because he came half unconscious. Then the impresano finally put some food in the half unconscious hunger artist, it was supposed to take attention away from the position he was in right now. He lived this way for a long time. Every now and then though he would take little breaks of being a hunger artist. He loved being in the spotlight and being honored for his way of living like this. Later in the years, people who looked back on the hunger artist in disgust. They couldn’t believe how big of a hit that was and they thought it was so wrong, but the hunger artist didn’t care. The impresano was also mad, because he wanted people to still like it as well. Sooner or later, the hunger artist found a circus that would let him sit in a cage next to the animals and become the hunger artist again and let people come and see him. The hunger artist started turning into an animal almost. He would climb around his cage and try to scare the people thinking he was an animal because that’s how he was treated when he was in this cage. But this enthusiasm only brought smiles to the faces of the supervisors, not the families and people who went and saw this. Most people would either stare at him in disbelief or he couldn’t tell if they were staring at him or the animals next to him. A child went and looked the hunger artist and didn’t understand why he was like that, or why he was in a cage like all the rest of the animals, the child’s parents didn’t even know what to say about it. Then the hunger artist thought it would be better if he wasn’t near the animals, so maybe people would actually come and see him and not the animals, but he was wrong. People started not paying attention to the hunger artist at all, like he wasn’t even there. Then one day the supervisor went to the hunger artist cage to find him hiding behind Straw. They pushed the straw away and said “Are you still fasting? When are you going to stop fasting?” Then the hunger artist whispered, “ Forgive me everything.” “We forgive you” said the supervisor. “ I always wanted you to admire my fasting.” said the hunger artist. “We do.” said the supervisor. “But you shouldn’t admire it.” said the hunger artist. “ but why shouldn’t we.” the supervisor said. “ Because I couldn’t find food which I enjoyed. If I had found that, believe me, I would not have made a spectacle of myself and would have eaten to my heart’s content, like you and everyone else.” Those were his last words. After that the supervisor told everyone to tidy up the cage and the hunger artist. They ended up putting a young panther in his cage. In the end , the hunger artist realized that he had made a fool of himself in that cage all of his life when he could have been living a regular life, like everyone else. The panther represents what the hunger artist could have done if he didn’t make himself a hunger artist. The panther lacked nothing, it had a good home, freedom, and food, which the hunger artist could have had if he didn’t demand for all the attention.

After watching Kafka, my perspective on metamorphosis really didn't change. Something that was similar was that before Gregor was turned into a bug he had communications with the outside world just like Kafka, but once he turned into a bug he had lost all communication with everyone, and once all of Kafka's friends died and he found out about how everyone was getting killed, he pretty much lost all contact with the outside world.
I think the moral of the story of Kafka is sometimes when you look farther than you should in things, and find out more than you should really know. Like Kafka, he looked so far into his friends death, that he found out how everyone else was all the sudden dieing, and then he put himself into danger from looking so hard. For metamorphosis, i think the moral of the story is to not judge people on what they look like. Also, don't judge people before you meet / get to know them
I think what he is saying about humanity is that if you look different than everyone else, then you get treated differently, like before he was turned into a bug everyone loved him, and once he changed and looked different, his parents didn't want anything to do with him. Which he is trying to say that in society we judge people way to much, and we need to stop. We shouldn't judge people what they look like. Even our families, our families shouldn't judge us because we can't do things we could do before. Also saying tha institutions are very juedgemental as well, and that needs to change in society.

why the future doesnt need us

Joy's thesis is saying that we are making ourselves too advanced by making things easier with technology that we are putting ourselves into a hole that we will soon fall into. Inventing new things but not making it too easy that we arent needed anymore to do anything. People are having robots doing everything for us so that we can just sit around and do nothing and cause more problems with our society. Huxley would like this article because he wanted things bettter and more advanced , he wanted things done faster and more efficient. No i dont think that he is a fear monger. I liked the way he used his literary devices. The article connects by both saying that humans want a better/ faster/ stronger way of life with doing less work.

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas"

1./How i reacted to this piece was i thought it was more describing the town than anything. It talked about the kids, the smell of cooking throughout the tents, about its technology and much more. Also how the people couldn't help that child in the room. It almost made it seemed like they didn't care about the poor child.

2./ How this connected to 1984 was that people were suffering in both of these pieces. People were suffering in 1984 because they had to believe everything that big brother said even if it was wrong. And in this story, the child was suffering down in the cellar.

3./ The main imagery that is for the story " The ones who walk away from omelas" is imagery. It is used because it shows how everything looks and is without using pictures. It tell how the city looks and acts.

4:
1. what do you think would happen if that child did become happy?
2. What are some similarities with brave new world?
3. How would the omelas feel after reading about the child.
4. Where do you think the omelas go when they left?
5.What do you think is the message LeGuin is trying to give?

Why the future doesn't need us.questions.

QUESTIONS :

1. What would George Orwell say about this author? Would he agree with him? Disagree?

2. Do you think there are any similarities to this, 1984, and brave new world? If so, explain.

3.How is a machine decision better or make it better than a man-made decision?

4. What kind of dangers does technology have on us?

5. What are the Luddites?

6. Do you think that in the future, the people will be taken over by robots?

7. What are similiarities and differences between robot dreams and why the future doesnt need us?

Saturday, September 29, 2007

Robot Dreams :]

1. One similarity to robot dreams and 1984 is that elvex and Wintson are the same in a way. They both were "controlled" by one person, in robot dreams, elvex was "controlled" by susan Calvin and in 1984 winston was controlled by big brother. Even though one was a robot and one was a real person, in the end the robot pictured himself in a dream killing the humans, and being the "ruler" of the world, just like big brother. So in the end they had to kill elvex because he got too powerful and he knew too much. One difference between the two stories was that in robot dreams, the main character was a robot and in 1984 the main character was a real person. Also that the person controlling in robot dreams, was a scienctist that knew or thought they knew what they were doing when they were "training" the robot but in 1984 big brother just wanted to rule the world, not knowing really what he was doing.

2. George Orwell might say to Issac Asimov at dinner that he agrees with some of his ideas but not with some of them. I think they would agree on things that relate to ruling the world / country. Also having the main character "brainwashed" to believe and say anything that the ruler tells them too. They might disagree about having " too much power" , George Orwell will think its fine to have all the power in the world, but Issac Asimov would not agree with that because in robot dreams, elvex got too much power and found out too much information for which he could rule the world and take the power away from the ruler. He was taught too much information and in a short period of time.

Goals for this year :]

Three Colleges to apply too:

1. Michigan
2. Michigan State
3. Henry Ford.

GPA goal for this year - 3.0 or higher

Goal for Ap EXam: B or better

Watts Reading Response

Watt's Thesis is that "we don't come in it, we come out , like falling leaves from a tree." Like when he said that "There was never a time when the world began, because it goes round and round like a circle, and there is no place on a circle where it begins." [p. 13 para 3 ] What he is trying to say is that it doesn't matter about the start the only thing that matters is the end and what you get out of it.

Watts' view of religion is that he wants people to understand the human world, because everything now a days is changing and he wants men to be able to grasp it.[ p 4-5 para 2]

Watt See's that the problem with the concept of "conquering " nature is that we are part of nature. Also that humans aren't necessarily "conquering" nature but are just a part of it.[ p. 8
para 1]

Watt defines the "new experience" as a new feeling of what it is to be. "I" Meaning to learn the new way of life or feeling of life the way it is now. [ p. 11 para 2]

Watt sees that the purposes of myths to teach what happened in the past, like symbols telling you different stories. [ p.13 para 1]

Watt feels like someone finds there true identity by seeing through the illusion of you ego, and to thinking better about yourself [ p.20 para 2]

One connection from this reading and 1984 is that people that have "higher power" tell people with " less power" what is right and what is wrong, and they make them believe it even if they are giving out false information. In the novel 1984, big brother made everyone beleieve that 2 + 2= 5 even though it wasn't true everyone had to believe it or they would be sent to room 101. Now in the reading it was talking about the bible and god and different kind of religions , the kind of religions that whatever they beleieved, you had to beleieve too. [ p. 4 para 2] Those two relate because they are pretty much the same way , just different occasions.

New Post

Dear Mr.Suciu

Hey. How are you? After reading what you wrote i was wondering if you ever were in an internships when you were in college? So what exactly do you do in your job? what are some of your stories from high school?

I want to tell you about an article that we read in class, its about the education system and if it has changed over time, and that it needs to be upgraded so that we are finding new ways of learning.

In the article, it talks about the learning system, what i think is wrong is that we need to make new classes to help children suceed and have different levels for class, so that kids that aren't as smart get extra help. Also, the kids that learn faster can have a hard class so it can make it harder for them.
What do you think that schools should do to improve the schools education problem?

Thank you for your time,
I hope to hear from you soon
-Becky
